This is a blog devoted to the mundane daily activities of my pal, Steve. I've known Steve for over twenty years, which means that he's my oldest friend. We met at a party on a Saturday afternoon. It was February or March, and, probably, overcast. It was always overcast in the 1980s. Steve's favourite videogame was called "Berserk."

Duke of Gloucester

Steve and I went to the Duke of Gloucester (pronounced Gloster)
yesterday to drink and throw darts. We met around nine o'clock in the
evening, which we both agreed was late for our current lifestyles and
energy levels. Steve was there when I arrived, and we immediately
repaired to the back and uncorked his Canadian-flag darts. We played
three sets of the one where you go from 301 to 0. I won two sets, and
Steve won one. This is the way it should be. If Steve won two and I won
only one, I would feel bad, and I would doubt myself. As it was, no
problem. Anyway, after darts we went to the front room to drink a couple
more pints. A gaggle of hipsters, including CBC personality Jian
Ghomeshi, arrived soon afterward and monopolized the jukebox. Neither
Steve nor I particularly cared. Steve brought out a piece of paper on
which were written a list of topics for us to talk about. Some of these
were: our opinions of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (I liked it O.K.,
but Steve disliked it); the concept of idleness versus leisure; American
Idol; Coronation Street; and one topic of my choice (I forget what it
was). We wandered home around midnight, well lubricated.
